I love how he’s looking at Sam even though Sam’s not looking back. And how he doesn’t have to look at what he’s doing because taking care of Sam is instinctual. But also he doesn’t wanna look away from Sam because he almost lost him and he’s just so happy and relieved that he didn’t.
And in that moment Dean looks so very young. He looks like season 1 Dean again. He has his purpose, and he has his brother, because he rescued him, and they’re going to make it, together.. (How the heck does Jensen manage to look that young?)
because that’s his boy and he loves him and he’s proud of him (sometimes he seems happiest when he’s right there working with Jared)
And the way he talks to Sam, as if he’s talking to his baby brother. His little, six-year-old brother whose scared because Dad hasn’t come home yet and they’re running out of food and money. How many times has Dean said that to Sam? How many times has he told Sam everything would be okay when Dean himself was uncertain? Dean has to believe they’ll figure it out. He has to, because if he doesn’t, it means he might lose Sam, and he’ll never let that happen.
